Jandor Returns To APC

A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, better known as Jandor has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the announcement on Monday during a press conference at his office in Ikeja, weeks after resigning from the PDP.

Jandor attributed his decision to persistent internal crises and a lack of discipline within the PDP, particularly criticizing the party’s failure to address anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections.

He described his time in the PDP as a challenging experience, working with what he called “perennial political saboteurs.” According to him, the move to the APC was driven by the desire to pursue a more effective political platform.

“After extensive consultations with family, political associates, elder statesmen, supporters, and well-meaning Lagosians who share our vision for a greater Lagos, we have decided to join a party that prioritizes electoral success and effective governance,” he stated. “We have resolved to love our future more than we hate our past.”

Jandor explained that he held discussions with key figures across multiple political parties, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Young Progressive Party (YPP), before settling on his return to the APC.

Reflecting on his earlier departure from the ruling party, he referenced a Yoruba adage, noting that experience has shown him the value of effective leadership.

“In the APC, there is a leader who, despite some selection decisions, is fully committed to the success of the party and its members. In contrast, the PDP in Lagos has consistently undermined itself during every election cycle,” he said.

He emphasized that the decision to return to the APC was made in the best interest of Lagos State and aligned with his commitment to its progress.

He acknowledged the role of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, in convincing him to rejoin the APC.

“I express my gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing our contributions to democracy and nation building.

I also appreciate the efforts of Femi Gbajabiamila, who has encouraged my return for over a year, and Seyi Tinubu, who reached out immediately after my resignation from the PDP,” Jandor said.

He called on his supporters to join him in this new political phase, reaffirming his commitment to service, integrity, and progress.

“Together, we will continue to work towards a better Lagos for current and future generations,” he added.
