Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 in Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium, reviving their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Victor Osimhen scored both goals in the first half, netting in the 11th and 45+3rd minutes.
The Super Eagles needed the match more than Rwanda and went for it early with former African Best Player, Osimhen combining well with the current African Best Player Ademola Lookman to take Rwanda to the cleaners with two first half goals.
Head coach Eric Chelle made some changes later in the second half as Samuel Chukwueze and Ola Aina were replaced by Bruno Onyemaechi and Raphael Onyedika while Tolu Arokodare made his Super Eagles debut as he and Alhassan Yusuf took the places of Victor Osimhen and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
The Super Eagles will on Tuesday take the Brave Warriors of Zimbabwe at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state in search of another three vital points.
