Data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed a significant drop in the number of active Internet users in Nigeria, falling from 163.8 million in December 2023 to 139.2 million in December 2024. The NCC’s industry statistics also indicate a decline in active telephone connections during the same period. The number of connections fell by 26.6%, from 224.7 million in 2023 to 164.9 million in 2024. The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has secured a favourable judgement for its members against the Federal Government on the proposed plan to impose additional tax burdens on businesses.
