Special Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two-term Chairman of the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, has passed away.
The Gazelle News reports that the former Chairman died in a Lagos hospital where he was rushed on Friday, 7 February 2025, due to complications from diabetes.
Despite efforts to stabilise him, he passed away on Sunday, 9 February 2025 at the age of 65.
Oke had battled the disease for several years before his demise.
Before venturing into politics, he worked with African Independent Television (AIT) and was once associated with veteran musician, Sir Shina Peters during the ‘Asiko Youth’ era.
Oke is best remembered for his contributions to the development of Ifako/Ijaiye, notably overseeing the construction of the council’s secretariat at Idiagbon Bus Stop, along College Road, Ogba, before handing over to his successor.
News of his passing has left residents in shock, with many mourning the loss of a leader, who played a pivotal role in the community’s growth.
